Are you prepared to have the best sea salt chocolate chip cookie you’ve ever tasted? This recipe has been a client favorite for quite some time. The combo that comes with sea salt and decadent chocolate is hard to beat. Being a nutritionist I of course snuck some superfoods into the recipe. I promise you won’t even know they are there nor will your kids. I love finding ways to up the nutrient density of a recipe without having it taste like a “health” food. I’m so excited for you to have the chance to make these delicious cookies in your own home.
I love this sea salt chocolate chip recipe because it brings together two of my favorite things. Quality sea salt and rich chocolate chips. I personally love dark chocolate but you can pick whatever chocolate chips you enjoy. This recipe is really simple and can be made whenever a cookie craving hits.
Being a holistic nutritionist I am always looking for ways to include nutrient-dense ingredients in the recipes I make. I included hemp seeds and chia seeds which are both high in nutrients.

Nutrition of Hemp Seeds
- Exceptionally rich in two essential fatty acids, linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3)
- Great protein source, as more than 25% of their total calories are from high-quality protein.
- Also, a great source of vitamin E and minerals, such as phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc
Nutrition of Chia Seeds
- Excellent source of vitamins, minerals, and powerful antioxidants.
- Improve blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, help with weight management & bone health.
- Great source of calcium, manganese, magnesium. copper, iron.

- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 Eggs ( can sub for flax eggs if vegan or egg allergy)
- 6 Tbsp Coconut Oil, melted
- 2 Tbsp Hemp Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
- 1/2 cup Pure Maple Syrup
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar (ranges depending on your desired sweetness)
- Chocolate Chips no measurement, I will let you decide how much to include.
- Flaked Sea Salt

Preparation & Baking
Like I said above, this recipe comes together quickly!
- Preheat oven to 350
- Measure out coconut oil and place in oven safe dish to melt.
- Add all ingredients except chocolate chips and sea salt into bowl and add coconut oil once melted.Mix on low speed until evenly combined.Pour chocolate chips in and fold into batter.
- The batter is pretty dense so it will take a litle arm work.
- You can place dough into the fridge while you prepare your cookie sheets. It helps chill the dough and have it easier to scoop out.
- I love to use parchment paper on my baking sheets to help with the items not sticking and easier cleanup.
- I use these cookie scoopers to scoop the cookie dough evenly onto the baking sheets.
- Once you scoop all the dough out, lightly press down on each cookie mound. This cookie dough doesn’t expand when baked, it will rise slightly. So flatten to your desire thickness.
- Once the cookies are flattened, use the flaked sea salt and sprinkle on each individual cookie.Depending on the size of your cookies, you will bake 8-10 minutes until the edges are slightly brown.
- If you have the will power, allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet until completely cool.
