Rice Bowl Building Instructions

Ok, I love vinegar! Like anything, I can put it on the better! I make my rice with a little vinegar in it, and for this recipe, I did rice vinegar but I have used apple cider and white balsamic before too. It just gives that extra boost of flavor to each bite that helps make the flavor a bit more complex.

Defrost your shrimp, toss with a drizzle of olive oil and minced garlic and set them aside. I prepare my rice just like the bag recommends but I sub 1/2 – 3/4 cup water for vinegar. So just to clarify it would be 1 cup rice and then 1.5 cups water with the last 1/2 cup being vinegar. If you want to start with a small amount to test out the taste I would recommend 1/4 cup.

Moving on to the rest of the ingredients. Slice the cucumbers and radishes and add them to a bowl. Crack sea salt & drizzle rice vinegar over the cucumbers and radishes and let it sit. This is a quick pickling option to give taste to the cucumbers and radishes without having it take too long.

Prepare the shredded carrots, edamame, fresh greens and set them aside. Start your grill, I highly recommend using a grill pan to cook shrimp in or skewers so that you don’t lose any while grilling. These grill pans have been incredible to use for shrimp, vegetables, and even fruit for grilling or smoking on my Traeger.

Grill the shrimp and remove rice once done & you are ready to start building your bowl. Again, if any of these ingredients don’t sound good to you, just switch them or omit them completely.

Optional but highly recommend, sprinkle Furikake Japanese multi-purpose seasoning on the top for added nutrition & flavor.
